Starting a Large Scale OER Effort with Affordable Learning GA In-Person
In 2014, the University System of Georgia launched Affordable Learning Georgia, one of the first state system-wide textbook affordability programs, focusing on increasing student success through the adoption, adaptation, and creation of Open Educational Resources and the use of affordable library-subscribed resources. Now, with nearly five years of experience and over $30 million in student savings on textbook costs, what has worked for ALG, and what would they do differently if they could start over? Jeff Gallant, Program Manager of Affordable Learning Georgia, will share the past, present, and future of this affordability and student success-driven initiative, along with the most important lessons learned along the way, in order to help guide the faculty and staff of Clemson University into the future of OER.
