Data Careers Panel [Love Data Week 2022] Online

Have you ever wondered about some of the different ways professionals use data in their jobs, or what kinds of data science jobs might be out there beyond basic programmer and analyst jobs? This panel will consist of 4 data professionals that will answer questions about their career paths, current jobs, and advice they might have for anyone that is interested in a similar career.

  • Ben Wiles is the inaugural Chief Data Officer at Clemson University and previously deployed an institutional model for business analytics at Purdue University as inaugural Director for Institutional Effectiveness. He also teaches graduate and undergraduate coursework on data & statistics, co-chairs the EDUCAUSE CDO Working Group, and serves on the advisory board for Gartner's Global Data & Analytics Summit Series.
  • Matt Chambers currently serves as Executive Director of Visual Analytics at Clemson University where he utilizes information visualization and narrative storytelling techniques to communicate insights.  He is a two-time Tableau Zen Master, which is Tableau’s highest honor for the year’s most outstanding practitioners of data visualization using the company’s software.
  • Dr. Ellen Breazel is a Senior Lecturer and Assistant Director for Data Science Outreach and Online Education in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Clemson University.  Dr. Breazel began teaching at Clemson in 2008 and is one of the founders of the university’s online Master in Data Science and Analytics program.
